Congratulations to Sandrine Bourdoulous, winner of the Louis Pasteur Medal awarded by the French Académie des Sciences

Sandrine Bourdoulous (Team Vascular Cell Biology in Infection, Inflammation and Cancer) received the Louis Pasteur 2020 Medal from the André-Romain PRÉVOT Foundation awarded by the Academy of Sciences.

Each year, this medal rewards a French bacteriologist for research studies which have made it possible to increase knowledge in microbiology.

The Académie des Sciences announced the awards on November 24, and will hold a solemn award ceremony under the dome of the Institut de France, when health conditions will allow it.

Sandrine Bourdoulous is rewarded for her research on vascular dysfunctions induced by inflammatory and infectious diseases, particularly in the brain. Her work contributed to a better understanding of the pathophysiology of invasive meningococcal infections and resulted in the design of innovative therapeutic approaches targeting a major virulence factor present in a large number of bacteria pathogenic for humans, and incidentally, against HER2+ breast cancers.
