    Résumé

Many of today's scientific publications are unreliable. This "replication crisis" has complex roots, and institutional responses have been slow and only partially effective in addressing the problem. In parallel, internet technology has enabled direct community action by researchers, bypassing established and often conflicted organisations.
Indivdual researchers can now contribute interactively to the correction of unreliable science using platforms such as PubPeer, which I help organise. I shall present the context and operation of the site, and address its key, controversial feature of allowing anonymous commentary.

Disclaimer: My work for PubPeer is carried out in my spare time and is independent of my employers.
